THE TOOLS MENU
SAVE SCREEN
KEY SEQUENCE: [F1]
The SAVE SCREEN menu option allows you to save the currently
displayed C64 screen as an IFF file. After saving the screen you
can then load it into any Amiga graphics program that supports
IFF pictures, like Deluxe Paint.
When selecting SAVE SCREEN you will be prompted with a file
requester. With the file requester you can either select a
displayed file name or enter a name for the IFF file that you
wish to save. Select OK to save the file or CANCEL to abort the
operation.
If OK is selected A64 will check if the specified file already
exists and if it does you will be prompted with another requester
asking if you want to overwrite the old file. Select YES to
overwrite the old file or NO to abort the operation. If YES is
selected, or if the file did not already exist then A64 will save
the current screen as the IFF file you specified.
NOTE: The entire filename can contain any legal AmigaDOS path
name, limited to 31 characters in length.
See: IFF FORMAT option below.
IFF FORMAT
KEY SEQUENCE: None
A64 can save screens in two different IFF formats: ILBM and ACBM.
The IFF FORMAT menu option allows you to switch between these
two formats.
The IFF FORMAT menu option has two settings: ILBM and ACBM. You
can select one or the other of these settings and selecting one
automatically unselects the other. The current selected setting
is shown by displaying a checkmark next to it.
When ILBM is selected A64 will save screens in the ILBM IFF
format. This is the format used by most Amiga graphics programs
and this setting should be selected for most applications.
When ACBM is selected A64 will save screens in the ACBM IFF
format.
See: SAVE SCREEN option above.

LOAD FONT
KEY SEQUENCE: [F2]
The LOAD FONT option allows you to load a previously saved C64
font. The A64 Package comes with several C64 fonts that are
located on disk 1 in the 64Fonts directory (See THE A64 PACKAGES
FILE STRUCTURE in the GETTING STARTED section).
When selecting LOAD FONT you will be prompted with a file
requester. With the file requester you can either select a
displayed file name or enter a name for the font file that you
wish to load. Select OK to load the file or CANCEL to abort the
operation.
If OK is selected the requested font file will be loaded and the
new font will replace the C64's normal font.
NOTES: The entire filename can contain any legal AmigaDOS path
name, limited to 31 characters in length.
If you are running a program that uses a C64 graphics
technique called custom characters the newly loaded font
may not be apparent. You will see the new font when A64
is reset.
See: SAVE FONT and VIEW FONT in the TOOLS MENU section.
SAVE FONT
KEY SEQUENCE: [F3]
The SAVE FONT option allows you to save the font that the C64
program is using.
When selecting SAVE FONT you will be prompted with a file
requester. With the file requester you can either select a
displayed file name or enter a name for the font file that you
wish to save. Select OK to save the file or CANCEL to abort the
operation.
If OK is selected A64 will check if the specified file already
exists and if it does you will be prompted with another requester
asking if you want to overwrite the old file. Select YES to
overwrite the old file or NO to abort the operation. If YES is
selected, or if the file did not already exist then A64 will save
the current font with the name you specified.
NOTES: The entire filename can contain any legal AmigaDOS path
name, limited to 31 characters in length.
3-28
The C64 has the ability to use multiple fonts at one time.
You should use the VIEW FONT option to make sure you are
saving the expected font.
See: LOAD FONT and VIEW FONT in the TOOLS MENU section.
VIEW FONT
KEY SEQUENCE: [F4]
The VIEW FONT menu option allows you to view the current font
being used by the C64 program that A64 is running. This is the
font that will be saved with the SAVE FONT option, if selected.
This feature is useful because the C64 has the ability to use
more than one font at a time and current font being used may not
necessarily be the one you think it is. While running the same
C64 program you may exit to A64 Prefs and view the current font
several times and find that the font has changed every time.
When selecting VIEW FONT you will be shown a screen containing
the current C64 font. After your are done looking at the font
press the left mouse button to return to A64 Prefs.
See: LOAD FONT and SAVE FONT in the TOOLS MENU section.
A64MON
For a complete description of the A64MON option see the A64Mon
section.
